He tells Theo Von that half of cancer treatment patients go bankrupt or broke. He also praises the Canadian system for 'good-quality' health care.
Sanders says, “They’re depleted, they’re broke,” in reference to U.S. patients. This is a very serious issue, and it is clear that a solution must be created in order to stop the high rates of bankruptcy for those with cancer.
It is clear that the cost of cancer treatment must be lowered in the USA. As new treatments are developed, the old treatments should become cheaper and more cost-effective. This will be an important step in ensuring that nobody has to go broke to pay for their cancer treatments.
