Region 7 is headquartered in Watertown and includes Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, Franklin, and Clinton counties. The Surplus Property website is overseen by the Property Management Unit, Office of Right of Way in Region 7.
The Property Management Unit is responsible for disposal of NYSDOT-controlled real property no longer needed for highway purposes. NYSDOT policy is to dispose of surplus property publicly, by auction or sealed bid, unless prohibited from doing so by law. Exceptions to public disposal generally involve "landlocked" or otherwise "undevelopable" small parcels adjacent to a single property owner.
This website contains information about upcoming public auctions and sealed bid sales, as well as properties that have been identified as excess to current highway needs.
